March 15th

Today is a special day for two reasons: Abby is FOUR months old today and I found out I was pregnant with our little "Paco Bean" one year ago to the day!

So much has changed in one year, but all for the best.  Being a mommy has been the biggest blessing of my life!  It is funny how giving someone your all can teach you so much about yourself.

In honor of Abby's fourth month of life, I want to share with you our journey into babywearing and a must-have item that I know has helped mommy and baby bond as well as helped me be able to do the everyday chores, errands, etc, hands-free.  It is my  Moby Wrap!

I had registered for a black Moby Wrap on my Amazon baby registry and my friend Brittney surprised me with it!  I was so happy to have it especially when Abby first came home because it allowed me to hold her and calm her down while being able to clean or go for walks with the dogs, etc.

It has become such a staple in our daily lives that I don't know what I'd do without it.  For example, I am currently wearing it right now because as I was attempting to fix lunch, Abby was being pretty fussy and none of the usual toys were calming her down.  I stuck her in the wrap and...silence!  She loves being close to me while viewing the world from a different point of view.

I like it because it is just a long piece of cloth that you can wrap in many different ways (check out "moby wrap wraps" on YouTube!) and it adjusts naturally to your growing child without having to undue hooks or lengthen straps and the company says it can be used on children from birth to 45 pounds.

I actually just ordered another wrap for summer because in this Georgia heat I definitely do not think that a black wrap is the best option! I got a SPF 50+ Moby Wrap in turquoise so that it will be cooler and protect both Abby and me from the sun all at the same time.  It is a little more expensive than the regular wrap, but like I said, I use my wrap daily so I will get every penny's worth!

Babywearing has many benefits (a large list of them can be found at http://www.babywearing.com/), but the best part for me has been being able to be physically close to Abby.  I love watching her look around and explore her new world, all while doing my everyday chores and activities.  For example, I was able to talk and play with her yesterday while she was in her wrap as I was simultaneously grocery shopping.  I didn't miss out on one smile, interested eyebrow raise or "conversation" with her!  Oh and an added bonus?  The exercise!  Carrying around a 15 pound baby all day adds up and it really helps to strengthen your back and core!

If you are interested in reading more about babywearing, I suggest you Google it because there are a ton of sites out there that are dedicated to helping people learn to babywear safely and in many different ways!

  1. Hey Sam! I never delved in to CDing so I couldn't comment on that, but babywearing - yes! The one that ended up working for us was the Babyhawk (a mei tai-style carrier). I wore her everywhere in that thing. Now that she's walking, she really wants nothing to do with it, but she'll endure the back carry for a little while. Anyway, if you ever want to try something else, I highly recommend the Babyhawk :)

Glad to see you and Abby are doing well. Happy four month birthday to her!
