Update Update

I realize I have let a lot of time creep up between now and the last time I posted.  I have a good excuse though: Abby is MOBILE!!!

Looking after a baby who can move is a completely different experience than what the experience of looking after a newborn was, that's for sure!  Abby started rolling over to one side around mid February, started rolling over from her back onto her belly/belly to her back in the beginning of March, and by mid-March she figured out how to roll consecutively as a mode of mobility...ever since then, I have had to watch her with an eagle's eye (hence the reason my last post was March 17th)!!!

First time Abby rolled over to one side and I caught it on camera!!  (Thank you camera phones!)

Abby rolling onto the keyboard that was next to her on the floor

The trouble begins!  Abby is mobile via rolling and found some diaper inserts to get into!

Abby started to sit up regularly in the beginning of April but at just about that same time she started to army crawl toward things, so she really had no desire to sit still long enough to sit upright because she enjoyed getting into things via crawling WAY more than being still!

First time Abby ever sat up by herself unassisted

Mid-April she was up on all fours doing a knee-to-hands type of crawl and in the beginning of May she finally put all the pieces together and started crawling in the proper sense.  That greatly increased her speed and she has been cruising around the house and experiencing all the new sights, sounds and, much to my worry, tastes of anything within her reach.

Stinker!  Mobile babies love wires!

Crawling around after a walk

Abby G pushups!!

"May I help you?"

She can also now go from sitting to crawling and crawling to sitting, although the latter still takes a little more effort than the former.

Hanging out her side and pushing herself up

Out of nowhere in mid-May, Abby started to just pull herself up into standing position and that brought on another set of worries for me, namely, her falling from a greater distance than just being on all fours.  She absolutely adores pulling herself up onto our over-sized beanbag chair and just watching life go by from that position/torment the dogs who are trying to sleep!

"Hey JAZ!  Check out my cool toy!!"

Happy girl by her favorite spot--the beanbag

Action shot of Abby discovering the stairs!  AHHH, we are in trouble now!

Hanging out with her Poppy and watching "Baby Einstein"

In a sort of counterintuitive move, now that Abby is completely mobile, she actually has started to sit upright for longer periods (provided she has something to keep her attention or play with) and is currently sitting with her daddy and playing with a toy that has held her attention for the last 20 minutes!  This is no easy task, as things usually get old to Miss Abby G very quickly!

Giving some LOVE to Tia Frances

We had Rock's sister Frances down for a visit last weekend, my parents came this weekend and Rock's parents are coming in two weeks, so Abby is adoring all the love and attention our family is bringing her.

We are still loving cloth diapering and I plan on writing a follow-up post on our progress (as it, and everything else, is a learn-as-you-go process with your first baby).

Obviously a lot more has happened in the two plus months I haven't written, but I just wanted to document the highlights of her development here.
