Abby-Gish

In my family we have use the term "Abby-Gish" to describe anything that embodies the essence of Abby.  If something is Abby-Gish it usually involves things that are funny and quirky.  For example, the main little penguin in the movie "Happy Feet" is very Abby-Gish.  In fact, he was very much to her liking and she is now obsessed with penguins!  We must watch 50 YouTube videos a day featuring penguins.  Besides the "Happy Feet" videos, her other favorite is a clip from "Mary Poppins" where animated penguins dance with Dick Van Dyke.  She LOVES dancing along with them and when the clip ends, she will come get me or Rock and lead us to the Xbox controller and put our hand by it or on it, which is her way of saying "play it again!"

I put on a penguin clip and she climbed up on the chair and put the blanket on her lap all by herself!

She actually brings our hands to things she wants a lot and sometimes it is to our amusement.  The other day, as she was waking up from a nap, I laid down next to her to give her some kisses.  Instead of reciprocating, she grabbed my hand and put it right on my chest because she obviously wanted to nurse WAY more than she wanted kisses!

Other Abby-Gish things are her funny little quirks like how whenever she has "naked booty" (like at diaper changes or bath time) she loves spanking herself and giggling!  We have no idea where she got this because we don't hit or spank her and we don't model this behavior in front of her (or at least not to our knowledge), so we just chalk it up to Abby being Abby!

At mealtime we usually give her food on a placemat that is on her highchair tray and she eats it from there, but recently she has started to want to eat her food from proper, "big girl" kitchenware.  If she eats hummus, it has to be out of a bowl; if I give her dinner, she wants it on the same thing we have.

Rock and I have been discussing how much she has grown up in the past few months.  When I took the following pictures and sent them to Rock who was on TDY in NY, he couldn't believe how old she looked!  He said she looked like a kindergartener!

This, by the way, would be a very "Abby-Gish" grin haha!

She still is super strong-willed and stubborn as can be, but that is just part of what being Abby G is all about.  It is that same drive to do what she wants when she wants to do it that also fuels her ferocious curiosity.  And while curiosity may have killed the cat, it drives toddler learning, so I want to encourage it as much as possible.  Plus, I get some pretty darn cute photos out of the deal:
