Shane's First Christmas

We had a great day celebrating Christmas and generally just enjoying the day together.  Shane was a professional present opener and you'd never know that he had never unwrapped a present before!

Decorating the tree together

My little bear

Santa got some organic paleo cookies and they were YUMMY!

Best Christmas ever

Shane loves his toy from Mimi and Poppy

Abby got a beautiful "Frozen" gown from Tia Frances

Queen Elsa

Picking out the first present to open

Shane likes this whole Christmas thing!

Abby was so excited about her paint set that she was swinging

Shane wishes YOU a Merry Christmas as he gets ready to eat breakfast--his FAVORITE!

After opening the presents, having breakfast, playing with all the toys, and taking a well-deserved Christmas nap, we hopped in the car and headed down to DC to go see some Christmas lights at the DC Temple.  They decorate the whole grounds in multicolored LED Christmas lights, have a life-sized Nativity (Shane was NOT a fan of the real-sized camel hahaha), and inside the visitor center they have multiple displays of Christmas trees and nativities.  It was so pretty to see all the festive things and it was all free, so that made it even better!

Dad and Abby in front of what Abby called her "castle"

Me with my babies (it was really cold--about 26 degrees)

Pictures can't do it justice but this was my favorite tree with a mix of blue and white LED lights

Red, green, yellow, pink, white, blue--tons of different colors and all were beautiful

This was just the parking lot!

There were so many lights that everything was glowing

I asked to take a picture of them and they both did this independently of each other--TWINS!

The best picture we could get of me and the kids by the tree

We  came home and Rock went to get Chinese take out from a new place right off base and it was actually REALLY good!

His Christmas morning PJs

He was "On the Nice List"

Christmas morning "rein"deer that came to visit us in the backyard

We realized after the day that even though we lived here before for 3 years, this is actually our very first Christmas in Maryland.  I can't think of a better way to spend it than with my two kids and husband.

Merry Christmas and happy happy New Year!!
