Abby's First Stuffed Animal

Hey everyone!  I am still smiling from last week!  It's so nice to have a name, face and pronoun for that little active munchkin in my belly!

So, as an in-between blog post from Week 18 to Week 20 belly picture posts, I wanted to tell you about Abby's first stuffed animal.

I went into Build-A-Bear Workshop in our local mall about four weeks ago and bought a little recording device that the store offers as an option to place inside your stuffed animal.  I think it was around $8 and they showed me how to work it...very easy and it's re-recordable in case you don't like what you've recorded.  Then, at my appointment this Monday, I told my doctor I wanted to record the sound of Abby's heartbeat via the fetal doppler.  I just held the device about 3 inches from the machine's speakers and held down the button for about 30 seconds (although if you want to do it, the device records longer than that).  The recording is great and the sound quality is amazing for such a dinky little device!  Halfway through the recording Abby decided she would regale us with a huge kick to my belly and you can actually hear that on the recording!

They had a lot of summer option animals right now, like a Star Spangled Bear and a suntanned Hello Kitty, but since little Abby is going to be a November Baby, I decided to buy something a little more season neutral.  That worked out in my favor because apparently it was a "$10 Special" bear so the whole project only cost me ~$18, which is completely reasonable when you consider we have a keepsake for life!  So, once I picked out the bear, they placed the recording device in bear's left paw, stuffed it and then it was ready to go!  Now I just have to press the left paw gently to hear Abby's heartbeat, something I have probably done like 20 times since I bought the bear yesterday!  Also, I will admit, this present might be a little more self-serving than selfless, as it may end up being a present for ME rather than Abby if she doesn't like it (or when she gets passed the age of stuffed animals)!

I also started working on some baby registry stuff, which is fun because again, it makes Abby's arrival more realistic!  Once I am done with the registries I will post them on here.  Until then, ya'll have a great week and I will see you back here this weekend for Week 20 (HOLLER FOR BEING HALFWAY DONE) belly pictures!
