Baby Shower

A few people have asked me about what we are doing for a baby shower, so here are some details: My friend Jenn is helping me plan and throw the shower.  She was the first friend I made here in Maryland and I love her!  She is so good at all the details of party planning so I know the party will be so much fun!  I decided I wanted a Fall-themed shower because we will be welcoming a "lil pumpkin!"  Jenn and I have bought decorations and planned out a menu that just thinking about makes me hungry, LOL! 

Instead of paying for premade Fall baby shower invitations, I just told Rock what I wanted and he photoshopped an ADORABLE invitation!  All my friends were duly impressed with his "crafty" side, something he promptly corrected:  he isn't "crafty," he just knows how to use his computer well.  Crafty or not, the invitations are so cute and he did an amazing job:

The only thing I did after printing the invitations out on cardstock, was added ribbon to the top.  This is the final product:

I also got a brilliant idea from my friend Ellie's baby shower: inserting a card in the invitation that asks for a book with an inscription from the gift giver instead of a card.  That way we can start Abby's library as well as always remember who gave the book to her!  This is the little poem I found on the Internet that I included on the card:

One small request that won't be too hard

Please bring a book instead of a card

Whether Cat in the Hat or Winnie the Pooh

You can sign the inside cover with a note from you

Abby will become very smart, if my advice you do heed

If we begin early, she'll soon love to read!

So that's it!  I am really looking forward to seeing all my friends in one spot and just getting to socialize before Abby makes her appearance! 

I better go get ready...Rock is taking me to the Renaissance Festival today and it's IRISH WEEKEND, so I need to make sure my Irish locks are in fighting form!!!  I hope everyone has a great weekend! :)
