26 Weeks

OK, I don't even have an excuse...this post is just late.

Here are the pictures I took of my baby bump at 26 Weeks 3 Days pregnant:

Ahhh!  Busting out of my regular shirts now!

He is growing outward more now, but is still low.

Belly peek-a-boo

Love how my belly is stretching the peace sign sideways.

Getting biiig!

He likes to hang out low.

My bump/handrest

So the weekend of 10/7, Rock, Abby, (Shane) and I all packed up and headed about three hours southeast to the Texas Renaissance Festival.  It is about 30 minutes outside northwest Houston, but the weather was amazing and stayed below 60 degrees the whole time we were there.  We got there about 10 and left at 2:30, so we got a full day's worth of festivities and people watching.  Rock's sister Frances and her son Mark drove up to join us and it was so nice to see them.

Waiting to see the jousting.

My daughter holding a sword very accurately complete with a crazed look in her eyes...where is she from and can we get her signed to a movie contract already?!

Abby had an AMAZING time.  She couldn't get over all the princesses that were there, the horses they got to ride and the swords people were brandishing.  She even got to watch Rock and Frances have a "sword" fight with padded, baseball-bat-looking swords and she liked it so much Rock bought her her very own, purple version of the sword.  She spent the rest of the afternoon chasing us all and smacking our booties with the sword.  Haha, totally a dad's idea to get a toddler a sword!  At one point a black dragon came up to see her and she got scared, so her Tia Frances grabbed her sword and fought back the bad dragon.  Abby was so impressed that she allowed Frances to hold the sword for the rest of the day for protection.

Abby is just like her dad...not into taking pictures especially when she's tired.

I was laughing because Abby was resorting to making faces to show her disdain for sitting still to take photos.

Abby also had the Princess and Queen of Spain come up to her and tell her that she was the prettiest princess of them all, which just about made Abby burst with delight.  She loved all the attention and they were so sweet to make it a point to stop and talk with her.

We had a great time and made a lot of fun memories as a family and I was so happy Abby loved it so much, because now we can continue to enjoy Renaissance Festivals together each year.

We also took Abby to Oktoberfest and the Pumpkin Patch/Carnival this past weekend, but I will keep that for tomorrow's Week 27 post.

As for me, I am starting to get the ready-to-not-be-pregnant itch, but I know that I need to just relax and take each day as it comes because these are the last few weeks I get to be with Abby alone and this may well be the last pregnancy I ever have.  It is just the bigger you get the more uncomfortable you get, or at least that is how I feel.  I know ladies who love being pregnant and I think that is great and I wish I was one of them!  I don't dislike it, per se, it is just I like being active and when I am pregnant, a lot of that gets put on hold.

Take this past Monday for example.  Abby and I were at the park and a bee kept bothering Abby and when I went to try to get her out of the way it started to dive bomb me so I picked up Abby and started walking fast.  It followed us for a good 100M and kept trying to get in my hair or land on Abby, so I took off sprinting because I didn't want her to get stung.  So there I am, 26W3D pregnant, holding a 27 pound toddler and sprinting as we are being chased by a bee.  After probably another 100M, we came to a bathroom and we ducked in and finally lost the bee, but I was HURTING afterward.  It felt like my hips were about to give out.  My hips felt exactly the way they felt at 38+ Weeks pregnant with Abby...like I got kicked downstairs by a donkey!  I took it easy the rest of the day and put a heating pad on it, so I am feeling completely better now; but suffice it to say, for me, pregnancy comes with a lot of aches and pains like sciatic nerve pain, loose ligaments, foot pain, etc., so it curtails some of my regular activities. So, if you are one of those amazing women who can run, jump, climb, Cross Fit, and do all your regular physical activities while pregnant, I am so jealous and you have my respect as pilates, walking, swimming and light strength training are all I can manage.

One more quick story: Abby calls my belly "brother" or "Shane" or sometimes even just "baby" and has been using the same words for her belly, like telling me after she eats something delicious "Mmmm, Mommy, good for baby" as she pats her stomach.  Well the other day she was helping me fold and put away some of Shane's clothes and she kept repeating to me that they were for brother in Mommy's tummy.  I praised her by telling her that she was right and asked her what her brother was doing in my tummy and she told me he was "shweeping" and at the same time she patted her tummy and told me "sister shweeping too!"  Since then, she's been referring to her tummy as sister and my tummy as brother.  She will set aside certain things and tell me they are either for brother/Shane or for sister.  It is so funny and sweet to have her pretend to be pregnant alongside me, considering she is just shy of two and clearly has no concept of what being pregnant entails.  I want to get her a realistic baby doll with diapers, car seat, etc., so when we go to the hospital to have Shane, we can have "sister" there too so she has a baby to care for like I will be caring for Shane.

OK, I'll leave you with a picture of Abby and Rock carving Abby's first jack-o-lantern...Abby had a great time helping Rock push out the facial features but wanted nothing to do with the slimy seeds:
