She reminded us that even if everything looks clear on the u/s, there is always the possibility that there could still be a malrotation or volvulus, but that it was a lot less likely.
She measured everything and looked at all his anatomy and said everything looked good from what she could see and there were no warning signs that anything was wrong. We were definitely relieved to hear that he is still looking good in there. The doctor also double checked for us and we are for sure still having a little boy!
Based on his measurements, she thinks he weighs just shy of 5 pounds, but I am not taking that too seriously because at 39W2D pregnant with Abby they told me she was 7 pounds even and a week later she came out at 8 pounds! Shane is head down right now and she said he is already really low in my pelvis, which is good because he is in the right position for delivery, albeit face-up right now. I am keeping my fingers crossed that he flips to face down for labor because back labor is not fun!
We also got a 3D scan of Shane's face and he looks SO much like Abby...it's crazy! He was snuggled up SUPER close to the placenta, so it was hard to get a really good shot of his face, but she did get two images that are pretty good!

Abby was obviously further along into the pregnancy in her sonogram and she was pushed down deep in my pelvis (if you look closely you can see her little forehead scrunched down from the pressure), but I definitely think you can see they share a very close resemblance to each other...at least in utero!
We are so excited to meet Shane in a few weeks and are continuing to get things ready for his big arrival!

AHHH! I'm so excited that your adorable family is growing. :)
ReplyDeleteSam! You looks amazing and I can't believe you will meet little Shane so soon!!! Glad you are nesting and getting Abby prepped for all her Big Sister glory! Little Shane does look like his sister... can't wait to see if he will have curly hair like you :)
