OB Appointment Update

I went to my OB appointment yesterday and my midwife decided she'd check my cervix again because I had such intense contractions on last Friday night after my walk.  She didn't have any more progress to report other than that the baby is at "zero station" which means that her head is directly in line with the middle of my pelvic region.  That is likely why I am having so many aches and pains in my lower region because her little noggin is just chillin' and pushing things outward!

The midwife also found that my fundal height measurements were off which is something that seems to be par for the course at this point.  I don't know if ya'll remember, but back in the weeks 22-25ish they were saying I was measuring off (as much as 3 weeks behind) and it turns out I wasn't measuring off at all and that it was just that Abby was at a weird angle and the uterine fundus was pointing at my right ribs rather than the middle of my belly.  Well, yesterday I was measuring at 34 cm instead of 38 cm so the midwife told me that she had to give me a referral for a growth ultrasound to make sure that Abby is growing properly.  She said that she can feel that she is at an odd angle and that she knows that she has dropped into my pelvis and for those reasons she isn't too worried about the funky measurements.  She said that it was up to me if I wanted to go (since I am so close to my due date) but since the numbers were clinically greater than 3 weeks off she had to give the referral to me.  She seemed really nonchalant about it and not worried in the least, so that makes me feel better.  Rock and I are going to go on Friday to get the ultrasound just to be on the safe side and honestly, mostly to get to see her again (the last time we saw her was Week 18)!!  I will definitely let you all know what the ultrasound shows as well as post any sonograms they give us here!

I think we are definitely as prepared for Abby as we can be...we have her bag, my bag and Rock's bag all packed up and ready to go to the hospital; we got her car seat installed and inspected by the fire department to make sure we put it in properly; we have her bassinet set up with sheets; I washed all her clothes, blankets and cloth diapers; her swing and bouncy seat are all set up...now it is up to her to get here!

Rock and I are just trying to enjoy some quality time together before Abby arrives but it is definitely hard to be patient!  Everyone says to rest up now and enjoy not having anything to do, but man...it's like Christmas and waiting to see if your school is cancelled for a snow day all at once!  It's like Christmas because you wait so long for this one event to happen and it's like waiting to see if your school is having a snow day because you don't know when it'll happen or when they'll call it!  It's like every day you get up, you wonder "could it happen today??"  LOL!  Rock and I just went to Olive Garden for lunch and I had THREE bowls of soup and a plate of salad and it was SO delicious!  It was definitely nice just being with him with no one else around.  (I like him.)

Oh, also, our house is falling apart.  I have called maintenance probably like 10 times in the last month and a half...the paint/dry wall was falling down in two rooms; my bathroom caulking was coming out for the millionth time in three years and they "repaired" it last Monday but it is already coming off again; our washing machine fell OUT of the cabinet it is in; aaaaand the top window frame of our double hung window in our bedroom came crashing down at midnight the other night and we couldn't get it back up so we slept with the wide open window...it was 35 degrees outside and I thought my Texan husband was going to die!  Luckily we have gotten most the problems fixed but the biggest one was the window!  They sent an emergency contractor out yesterday and he said that our balances were broke on both sides and that I am lucky my fingers weren't near the window when it came down like that because I could have lost one or more!  YIKES!!  So, I say all this because maybe this is why Abby hasn't come yet!  Maybe we need to get all this stuff fixed so our house is as baby-ready as we are!

OK that's it for today.  Be looking out after Friday for another update and the sonogram pictures!

  1. I'm glad that you're going to go for the ultrasound to be safe (and to see her!). I will warn you though that since its not the anatomy scan they might not print you any pictures. It kind of depends on the tech you have, but just be prepared to walk out without any. Otherwise, have fun and enjoy watching her move around!

  3. I'm glad you like your husband. I heard you two liked each other so much that you made another human being together!! :) From the sonogram pictures I can tell she is gonna be a cutie.
I know a great handy man and appliance repairman if you need one...you may remember him, slightly sarcastic, tells some inappropriate jokes, looks kinda like me :)
